Focusing can be dangerous as well, one needs good reason to focus or to diverse. It is a market depended decision that should be taken carefully and not an axiomatic rule.

Would you recommend to rolex to go back to its limited range of watch models from the last century?

Would you advice Swatch to reduce their collections?

Would you disregard the customized tendency of cosmetics aiming at different solutions for different skin types?

You might be over emphasizing one aspect in a charismatic and convincing way you know...

Regarding Focus on a niche: The railroads were criticised early on for "focusing" on being in the railroad business and not the transportation business as a reason for their decline. Would Al's focus advice still have applied for them in the early 1900s?
